چکیده

The greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella caused damage to honey bee colonies which results in heavy economic losses beekeepers. present study entitled “Evaluation of structural modifications on Bee hives using different types bottom board materials against moth L. (Pyralidae, Lepidoptera) infesting Apis cerana indica F. Colonies”. revealed that the incidence larvae treatments board, laminated with mica, showed significantly (p<0.05) effective less (1.00), was followed by glass plate (1.44). pupae mica were superior least (0.88), (1.88), cardboard (2.63), OHP sheet (2.81) order effectiveness. Maximum extent pupal population occurred untreated control 3.81. shows absconding (0.25), (0.50), (0.75), (1.00). However, higher levels colony recorded (1.50).

Effects of Ethephon on the Hemolymph Metabolites of the Greater Wax Moth Galleria mellonella L. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

Ethephon (ETF), one of the plant growth regulators, is used in agricultural systems as a valuable tool due to its property of regulating fruit maturation. Here, we aimed to investigate the toxic effects of ETF on the hemolymph metabolites of the greater wax moth, G. mellonella which is an experimental animal and a serious pest in wax. Different doses of ETF (250–390 μg/5 μl) were injected with ...

Genome Sequence of Galleria mellonella (Greater Wax Moth)

The larvae of the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella, are pests of active beehives. In infection biology, these larvae are playing a more and more attractive role as an invertebrate host model. Here, we report on the first genome sequence of Galleria mellonella.

Immunity of the greater wax moth Galleria mellonella.

Investigation of insect immune mechanisms provides important information concerning innate immunity, which in many aspects is conserved in animals. This is one of the reasons why insects serve as model organisms to study virulence mechanisms of human pathogens. From the evolutionary point of view, we also learn a lot about host-pathogen interaction and adaptation of organisms to conditions of l...

Hearing and evasive behaviour in the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (Pyralidae)

Greater wax moths (Galleria mellonella L., Pyraloidea) use ultrasound sensitive ears to detect clicking conspeci®cs and echolocating bats. Pyralid ears have four sensory cells, A1±4. The audiogram of G. mellonella has best frequency at 60 kHz with a threshold around 47 dB sound pressure level. A1 and A2 have almost equal thresholds in contrast to noctuids and geometrids. A3 responds at + 12 to ...

Entomopathogenic nematode - Heterorhabditis indica and its compatibility with other biopesticides on the Greater wax moth - Galleria mellonella ( L . )

Pathogenic effect of an indigenous entomopathogenic nematode, Heterorhabditis indica and commercial biopesticides of three fungal pathogens (M. anisopliae, B. bassiana and T. viride), one antagonistic bacteria (P. fluorescence), and two neem based biopesticides (Neem and Nimor) were tested on the Greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella larva under laboratory condition. The efficacy of the biopest...
